Its been a busy couple of weeks for the Southampton board. First of all, the club lost manager Ronald Koeman; undoubtedly one of the best in its history.
The club has then been linked with an array of managers including Carlos Carvalhal, Manuel Pellegrini, David Moyes and Jurgen Klinsmann, with none of them looking to be well suited candidates for the job.
As well as this, the club has also lost and gained a player. Victor Wanyama completed his move to Tottenham Hotspur last Thursday but on Friday, Saints completed the signing of Norwich winger, Nathan Redmond.
But now, there is a new man in the frame and looking highly likely to take charge of Saints. Claude Puel, formerly of OGC Nice, is currently the favourite for the Southampton job and it’s not hard to see why.
Puel is known for his attacking style of play; perfect for taking over how Ronald Koeman use to play with the iconic Dutch 4-3-3.
Puel also has a reputation for playing academy players, ideal for a club who has had a bundle of prestigious players coming out their academy; Matt Le Tissier, Alan Shearer and Gareth Bale just to name a few.
So, let’s take a look at Mr Puel; the man all but set to fill the big boots left by the departed Ronald Koeman. Here’s his career in pictures.
