According to The Mirror, Southampton have placed Sheffield Wednesday manager Carlos Carvalhal on their manager shortlist this summer.
The report says that Carvalhal is under serious consideration for the job, following Ronald Koeman’s exit from the club. Koeman left Southampton last week to join Everton as their new manager, in what many see as a money oriented move.
This has now left Southampton with the task of replacing the Dutchman and Carvalhal is thought to be one of the names under advisement. Manuel Pellegrini, Vitor Pereira and Claude Puel are the other three names to be strongly linked with the vacant manager’s post.
Carvalhal is under consideration following his impressive job managing Sheffield Wednesday last season. The 50-year-old guided them to a surprising Championship Play-Off final, which they ultimately lost to Hull City in.
He has been heavily praised for his work at Sheffield Wednesday, which is why Southampton are looking at him for the job.
