West Ham United appear to be contemplating a January swoop for Southampton man Cedric Soares.
The Hammers were first linked with a move for the defender in November, and their interest has since been backed up by a second source.
According to well-respected West Ham insider @ExWHUEmployee on Twitter, Manuel Pellegrini’s side want to sign a right-back in January, with Cedric among those under consideration.

The Portugal international’s contract at St Mary’s expires in the summer, and Saints will need to offload him in January if they are to receive any kind of transfer fee.

Saints should sell Cedric at the nearest possible opportunity. There is absolutely no point in keeping players who don’t want to be at the club.
The defender has been terrible for the past six games and is proving to be something of a weak link for the team.
It seems Southampton want to strengthen the full-back positions in January, and it comes as no surprise given the poor form of Cedric.
West Ham would be making a rather peculiar signing if they are to land the 28-year-old, given that Ryan Fredericks is a better player.
