Our man of the match: Manchester United (H)

Southampton suffered defeat at home on Saturday as they lost 1-0 to Manchester United at St. Mary’s.

The Saints failed to score a goal at home for the fourth game in all competitions this season.

Southampton have played five matches at home, scoring in one of them – a 3-2 win over West Ham. Two of the goals in that game came from the penalty spot.

Romelu Lukaku’s goal in the first-half was enough to secure the win for the away side.

The Belgian striker appeared to push Wesley Hoedt in the box before scoring but the referee saw nothing wrong with it.

Fraser Forster kept out Lukaku’s initial effort but could only parry the ball straight back to the forward for an easy finish.

Picking a man of the match has been easy, with one man standing out above the rest.

Our Southampton man of the match against Manchester United is… Mario Lemina!

The club-record signing was superb in midfield and dictated the game in the second-half.

His ability to glide past player and play incisive passes make him a standout in the Saints midfield.

Lemina deserved to be on the winning side.
