Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has confirmed his intentions in the January transfer window amid interest from a host of Premier League clubs’ surrounding in-form striker Shane Long, reiterating that there would be no first-team outgoings this month.
After the arrival of Charlie Austin last Saturday, speculation brewed regarding striking duo Graziano Pelle and Shane Long’s future, however all talk of potential moves away from the club have been quashed by Koeman’s statement in his press conference ahead of Southampton’s trip to Manchester United on Saturday.
We brought in one player (Charlie Austin) and no player will go out and I keep that until the 31st of January. Maybe I have to repeat it 80 times more, but if you like it I will do it.

It comes as no surprise to see Southampton’s forwards touted for a move away from the club this month, given the recent form of Long who has led the line brilliantly in recent weeks.
However, Saints fans will be delighted to hear Koeman’s reassurance that no-one will be leaving St Mary’s this month as the south coast club now boast an impressive wealth of attacking talent, with players such as Charlie Austin, Graziano Pelle, Shane Long, Jay Rodriguez and Sadio Mane.
