Everton and Stoke have reportedly entered the race to sign Southampton striker Shane Long.
The Republic Of Ireland international has recently been linked with a move to Liverpool, but it is thought that Southampton have rejected an £8 million bid from the Reds for Long last week.
Long has been in fine form of late; scoring twice against Arsenal and netting in the win over Watford. However, the recent signing of Charlie Austin from QPR has put his place in the team under pressure as Austin will look to come in and take the number nine slot.
Ronald Koeman has made it clear that he does not intend to let any of his players leave against his will this window. This means that Shane Long moving on is a far fetched idea as he is an integral part of the squad and will be a key player in the last few months of the season.
