James Ward-Prowse withdrew from the latest England squad on Tuesday, and the news was met with a positive reaction from several Southampton supporters on social media.
The 26-year-old was called up by Gareth Southgate for the friendly against the Republic of Ireland and upcoming Nations League matches against Belgium and Iceland.
However, the Saints midfielder has now pulled out of the squad as a precautionary measure with a hamstring issue.
He’ll now remain on the south coast during the international break to receive treatment on the problem, with Ralph Hasnehuttl’s side travelling to take on Wolves when club action returns.
Southampton shared the news regarding Ward-Prowse on Tuesday morning, and these Saints fans were happy that the free-kick specialist will not be involved for the Three Lions.
