Southampton made four signings during the recent transfer window.

The Saints added to their right-back, centre-back, central midfield and wide ranks.

However, one position they failed to bolster was in attack.

That could have been different, though, with the club reportedly seeing a £4.5million bid for Mainz forward Abass Issah rejected back in July.

The 22-year-old’s main position is a centre-forward, although he can play out wide if required.

Issah remained in Germany with Mainz past the deadline, and we feel that the club should end their interest in the player and place their trust in upcoming star Dan N’Lundulu instead.

Ralph Hasenhuttl hasn’t been afraid to hand some of Southampton’s young prospects a chance in the first-team, with N’Lundulu making his Premier League debut as a late substitute in the recent 2-0 win over Everton.

N’Lundulu has averaged a Premier League 2 goal every other game over the past two seasons and appears to be coming on leaps and bounds since joining the club at Under-15 level.

Hasenhuttl recently admitted the 21-year-old is ‘a type of striker we don’t have in our side’.

The current campaign could provide the youngster with a real opportunity to stake his claim as a first-team player, should no other striker arrive.

So, we feel it would be beneficial, both financially and for N’Lundulu’s development, if the club doesn’t place another bid for Issah.
