Danny Ings has been Southampton’s best performer so far this season.
He’s recorded a WhoScored Premier League average of 7.46 – no other Saints star has a higher score.
The 28-year-old netted his fifth top-flight goal in Southampton’s thrilling 4-3 win over Aston Villa on Sunday. However, the forward suffered a knee injury with just five minutes to go and had to be replaced by Shane Long.
Ings has had knee problems in the past, leaving everyone associated with the club worried regarding his latest knock.
Southampton released an official statement on the player’s condition on Monday, but it was an update from Sky Sports reporter Mark McAdam which had plenty of Saints fans relieved.
McAdam claimed the forward has no serious damage to his knee after a scan and early signs suggest it’s expected he’ll be in contention to return to action sooner than first thought.
These Saints fans rejoiced upon hearing the “awesome” update…
