Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara appears to be a man in demand.

According to TEAMtalk, sides from England, France, Germany, Russia and Ukraine have all showed an interest in the 24-year-old in recent months.

Southampton are one of the 13 sides mentioned in the article, and alongside Premier League rivals Leeds United and Everton, French sides Monaco and Lille and Bundesliga heavyweights Borussia Dortmund, have reportedly watched the Finland international in action in recent weeks.

Burnley, Brighton, Newcastle United and Sheffield United all reportedly asked questions in the summer, alongside Russian giants Dinamo Moscow, Ukrainian heavyweights Dynamo Kyiv and Championship side Brentford.

The report goes onto add that despite Kamara’s Ibrox deal running to 2023, Steven Gerrard is keen to tie the midfielder down to new terms under the Scotland Premiership leaders.

The Saints face plenty of competition for Kamara, should they follow up on their reported interest.

You can see why the club are keeping tabs on the player though, who could provide fierce competition in the heart of the midfield at St Mary’s.

Kamara was described as a ‘Rolls Royce of a player by Gerrard after one of his early appearances for Rangers.

And despite playing in a midfield three currently at Ibrox, his energetic and powerful attributes, we feel, wouldn’t look out of place in a two-man midfield, something Ralph Hasenhuttl currently deploys.

The club recently signed Ibrahima Diallo from French side Brest, so whether or not The Saints are willing to get the chequebook out for another central midfielder over the coming months remains to be seen.

Where do Southampton need to strengthen next?
