Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on a deal to sign Southampton’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, according to a joint report from Lyall Thomas and Alan Myers for Sky Sports.

Negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing as they look to agree a transfer fee but it looks like those negotiations are close to being completed.

Saints are looking for around £25m for Hojbjerg, whilst Spurs have offered £15m, so it looks like the final figure could be somewhere in the middle.

Given that he’s into the final year of his contract on the south coast and that he has no intention of signing an extension, Saints will be keen to cash in on Hojbjerg and although Everton have joined the race for the Dane, his insistence on making a move to Spurs means a bidding war is pretty much off the table.

Although the transfer window will be open until October, Saints seem keen to get this deal done quickly, which makes sense as they’ll want the time and money to bring in an adequate replacement.
