Ex-club captain Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has possibly dropped the biggest hint that he wants to move to Tottenham this coming transfer window as anyone keeping tabs on his recent Twitter activity will have noticed.

Hojbjerg liked a tweet from @Plettigoal which read:

‘Update: #Hojbjerg: To my information @SpursOfficial is the club he wants to join this summer. @SPORT1 #THFC #COYS’

The Danish international has been linked with Tottenham in the past few weeks, following the news that he would not be captaining for Southampton after the restart.

Spurs and Jose Mourinho are said to be confident of signing the 24-year-old in a bid to strengthen their current midfield, although it has been reported that Everton are also keen on the midfielder.

Firstly, it should be noted that footballers liking tweets can often lead to nothing and have little meaning on transfer outcomes but it is interesting that Hojbjerg would like this tweet, given the rumours surrounding him as of late.

The Twitter account was that of Florian Plettenberg, a sports reporter, so the rumour could have some weight behind it – and Hojbjerg certainly seems to think so by liking it.

Whether it be Spurs, Everton or another club, one thing that does seem certain is that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will not be a Southampton player come next season.
