Despite his loan spell with Celtic effectively ending at the end of the curtailed Scottish football season, Fraser Forster was spotted at Celtic’s training ground yesterday.

The 32-year-old was spotted by a Daily Record photographer as he drove into the Lennoxtown facility as the Celtic squad were all asked to go in, one-by-one, for weigh-in and medical checks as the club look set to return to training ahead of the new season, which will start in August.

Exactly why the former England international has stayed up in Glasgow remains to be seen, although Celtic are keen to keep him, either on another loan or via a permanent transfer, so it’s looking like he may very well be staying with the Scottish champions.

Given that he’s still in Glasgow, it looks like Saints’ star is keen to remain with Celtic and it now looks like a deal is close to being completed.

Whether that is a loan or a permanent move remains to be seen, but either way, Saints are almost certainly going to be paying some of the goalkeeper’s huge £70,000-a-week salary.

It’s best to get Forster off the books now to save money and hopefully, Saints will be getting some type of transfer fee for him, rather than losing him on another loan.
