Southampton need to act on their interest in Eberechi Eze this summer as West Ham join the race to sign him from QPR.

According to Football Insider, West Ham are now keen on a deal for Eze and are plotting a potential swoop.

The report claims that Crystal Palace are also among the interested clubs and made an enquiry during the January window.

It was reported earlier this season that Southampton have been tracking Eze and are considering a move for the playmaker.

With West Ham’s fresh interest in Eze, it could be time for Southampton to make a concrete offer and attempt to bring him to St. Mary’s this summer.

He could add the creativity they need in midfield and provide a big boost to Ralph Hasenhuttl’s squad. Eze has produced 12 goals and eight assists this season in the Championship, averaging 1.9 chances created per game for QPR.

Jack Stephens currently tops Southampton’s assists chart, with three, and that tells you everything you need to know about the state of their creativity in the Premier League. No Southampton player averages more than 1.6 chances created per game either and this indicates that Eze could add value to Hasenhuttl’s midfield.

He could provide the creativity that they are clearly lacking and create more chances for the likes of Danny Ings, Shane Long and Nathan Redmond to profit from in the final third. Along with that, he has also bagged himself 12 goals and shown that he is able to finish chances as well as provide them, offering Southampton an increased goal threat in the Premier League.
