Southampton need to be wary of a deal to sign Milot Rashica after Atlin Lala claimed that his client will be available for £35m this summer.
Lala, Rashica’s agent, says that if the player moves to another club in one of Europe’s top five leagues – aside from Germany – he will cost £35m.
Speaking to Gazeta Blic, Lala said:
Nobody knows the future of Rashica at this moment. Initially we will see how the championship will end. Clubs have huge financial losses. If Rashica transfers to any Italian, English, Spanish or French club, then he will cost 38 million euros [£35 million].
Weser Kurier claim that Southampton and Liverpool are both interested in the Kosovo international heading into the summer transfer window. With Lala’s quotes, both clubs now know exactly how much they need to pay for the forward.
With this new information, Southampton should be wary about pursuing a deal for Rashica. £35m would be a club-record deal, by some distance and could be a huge statement of intent from the club. This means that they need to get it right and Rashica flopping could be a disaster for the club given the potential finances involved.
Rashica has scored 14 goals for club and country this season and has shown signs of promise, at the age of 23. However, Southampton need to be 100% sure that he is going to fit in at St. Mary’s before shelling out a club-record transfer fee. This could mean that they need to do more extensive scouting, once the Bundesliga is back underway, to make certain that they know what they are paying for.
