Southampton could be set to seal their most important piece of business this summer as Ralph Hasenhuttl is keen to sign a new deal with the club.
According to Daily Echo journalist Dan Sheldon, Hasenhuttl wants to sign an extension on his current contract with Southampton.
Speaking on the Total Saints Podcast (15/03/20), Sheldon said:
I do think he will end up at one of the so-called bigger clubs. I wouldn’t worry from a Saints point of view behind the scenes, he’s quite keen to sign a new deal because he wants to show the loyalty that they showed to him at the beginning of the season. How many teams would have stuck by someone after losing 9-0? Probably not many.

Securing Hasenhuttl’s future at the club could be the best move Southampton do all summer. He is the man Southampton need to build around going forward, with all the other pieces falling after his new contract is agreed.
The Saints need to have everyone pulling in the same direction if they want to progress as a club and it could help to have a central figure who remains the same throughout any changes, that being Hasenhuttl.
Once Hasenhuttl is tied down and his future is secure, he can begin building and shaping his squad to his will in the coming transfer windows. Keeping Hasenhuttl and sticking to one set style helps with transfers as it allows the club to know exactly what they need from a player.
