A number of Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to react to the club aiming a jibe at Match of the Day over the weekend.
With Southampton’s Premier League match against Norwich being suspended, the club’s Twitter account started a game of naughts and crosses with Manchester City – after Norwich failed to reply.
The pair then played out the game via their two Twitter accounts, with the tie ending in a draw as neither side were able to get three-in-a-row. After the game was completed, Match of the Day’s Twitter account responded saying “unbelievable scenes at St. Mary’s.”
Southampton then replied to their comment by saying “We better not be on last tonight.” This is in reference to Match of the Day typically picking the least action-packed Premier League games last on their list of matches shown in their highlights package each week.
