One position that Southampton may find themselves needing to strengthen in the summer is central midfield.
This is because captain Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been heavily linked with a move to fellow Premier League side Tottenham. Football Insider claim that Spurs have made Hojbjerg a top target heading into the summer, with the club potentially set to make a move for the Danish international.
Hojbjerg will have just 12 months left on his Southampton contract in the summer. This means that the club could be risking losing him on a free if they are unable to tie him down to a new deal or do not cash in on him ahead of next season.
