Southampton travel to face Norwich in the Premier League this weekend and it could be time to bring Che Adams back into the fold.

The Saints have lost five of their last six matches in all competitions and need a result to turn things around heading into their three-week break following the clash with Norwich.

Danny Ings and Shane Long have both scored once in their last six league games respectively, so it could be the right moment to change things about up top. Adams has been biding his time on the bench waiting for his opportunity to show Ralph Hasenhuttl that he is capable of performing and scoring goals in the Premier League.

And in Norwich, Southampton are facing a side who Adams already knows how to score against. The striker scored against Norwich at Carrow Road last season for Birmingham, albeit in a 3-1 defeat for his side. Norwich’s team is virtually the same, with Grant Hanley for Christoph Zimmermann the only difference between their goalkeeper and back four that day to their match against Sheffield United last weekend. This means that Adams could be playing against players he is familiar with and used to facing.

This is why bringing Adams in against Norwich could be a masterstroke by Hasenhuttl, as it could be a big chance for him to regain some confidence. If Adams starts and is able to notch his first Premier League goal he could start to kick on and really show that he is able to perform consistently at this level for Southampton moving forward.
