A number of Southampton fans have reacted to Shane Long’s performance against Newcastle on Saturday.
Some Saints supporters have taken to Twitter to air their frustrations at Long after a disappointing display at the weekend.
Southampton lost the game 1-0, their fifth loss in six matches in all competitions. Allan Saint-Maximin scored the only goal of the game, after a mistake from Yan Valery at the back late on.
This came after Southampton were also reduced to 10 men following a red card for Moussa Djenepo, which came via the referee looking at the pitchside monitor.
Before Newcastle took the lead, though, Southampton did have a promising chance to go in front. Long brilliantly got in behind the Newcastle defence and appeared to have an easy pass to Danny Ings for a tap-in, but instead went for the shot from a tight angle and skied his effort high and wide.
