A number of Southampton fans have reacted to a post from the club about defender Wesley Hoedt.
Some Saints fans have taken to Twitter to aim digs at the club and Hoedt, despite the post simply wishing the Dutchman a happy 26th birthday.
Hoedt is currently out on loan to Royal Antwerp in Belgium after falling out of favour under Ralph Hasenhuttl at St. Mary’s. He has played 20 league games for the Belgian side this season, picking up a red card along the way.
He made 13 appearances for Southampton in the Premier League last season, after playing 28 times in his debut campaign for the club. However, things did not work out for the Dutch defender and that forced Hasenhuttl to let him go out on loan last summer.
It will be interesting to see what happens with Hoedt in the summer and whether or not Hasenhuttl is prepared to give him a second chance.
These Southampton fans reacted to the post and didn’t seem to be that impressed.
