These Saints fans react to club post for World Book Day

A number of Southampton fans have reacted to the club’s social post, which showed players holding matchday programmes in honour of World Book Day.

Some Saints fans have taken to Instagram to mock star Angus Gunn after the club posted a picture of him holding a programme with his goalkeeper gloves and full kit on.

Gunn has endured a difficult season on the south coast and is currently playing second fiddle to Alex McCarthy in the Premier League. The shot-stopper has not featured in the Premier League since the 9-0 defeat to Leicester, making just three appearances in the FA Cup since that dreadful night.

The 24-year-old is only in his second top-flight season, after a loan spell with Norwich in the Championship before joining Southampton, and is still inexperienced compared to McCarthy. He could just need some more time to adapt to Premier League football before realising his potential.

These Southampton fans reacted to the post, mocking Gunn…

Craig_3194: “Gunn reading how to actually make a save?”

MattGilbert: “Surprised he didn’t drop that”

Halftint: “Don’t drop it Gunn!!”

Monsterbiggggg: “Gunn finally finds a book on how to stop the ball going into the net!! Shame it’s 8 months to late!🙄”

J_C_Searle: “Goal keeping tips and tricks?”
