Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has signed with super-agent Pini Zahavi ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to Danish outlet BT, as translated by Sport Witness, Hojbjerg parted company with Soren Lerby earlier this season and has now opted to become one of Zahavi’s clients.
Hojbjerg has 18 months left on his current Southampton contract and the report states that he has made this move to go one step further in his career.
READ SOUTHAMPTON VERDICT
Sky Sports reported in the January transfer window that Tottenham have made Hojbjerg one of their top targets for the summer. This suggests that they might be preparing an offer for him at the end of the season, at which time he will have just 12 months left on his contract.
Hojbjerg’s new agent, Zahavi, was also a key factor in Jose Mourinho’s appointment at Tottenham earlier this season. It was reported at the time that Zahavi has a close relationship with both Daniel Levy and Jose Mourinho, which means that he could also prove pivotal if Tottenham make a concrete move for Hojbjerg.
This also suggests that Hojbjerg’s decision to join Zahavi could have been influenced by his links with Spurs. If Hojbjerg wants to join Tottenham ahead of next season, signing up with Zahavi would appear to be a good move on paper due to his connection with the London-based club.
All in all, this looks like a situation worth watching over the next few months. If more transfer links with Tottenham continue to crop up with Hojbjerg, Zahavi could potentially be the reason why.
