Some Southampton fans have taken to Twitter to praise forward Shane Long for his performance against Aston Villa at the weekend.
Long scored his third goal of the season to open the scoring at St. Mary’s, with Southampton going on to win the game 2-0.
Moussa Djenepo did well down the left and flicked the ball into the six-yard box with the outside of his boot, with Long on hand to bundle the ball past Pepe Reina and into the back of the net.
The forward has now scored three goals in his last six games, having scored against Tottenham and Wolves in his five appearances before the match against Villa.
Not only did Long score the first goal, but he also worked his socks off upfront for Southampton and was a constant menace to the Villa defence.
