A number of Southampton fans have agreed with Ralph Hasenhuttl’s comments on the atmosphere at St. Mary’s.
Hasenhuttl said after the 2-0 win over Aston Villa that the crowd were excellent after he had demanded more from them in the week.
The Saints beat Villa to stay 12th in the Premier League, just six points off the top six with 11 games left to play. It was a great bounce-back from the club’s 2-1 loss to Burnley at home the week before
Shane Long opened the scoring in the first half as he bundled in a quality cross from Moussa Djenepo on the left. Stuart Armstrong then sealed the three points in stoppage time as he rolled the ball into an empty net after Pepe Reina had gone up for a corner.
