A number of Aston Villa fans have demanded that Dean Smith drops Danny Drinkwater for their side’s clash with Southampton this weekend.
Some Villa supporters are unhappy with his recent performance and want him dropped to the bench as they travel to the south coast.
Southampton host Aston Villa at St. Mary’s, hoping to complete a league double over the newly-promoted club. The Saints beat Villa away from home earlier in the season, with Danny Ings scoring twice and Jack Stephens finding the back of the net in a 3-1 win for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side.
Drinkwater joined Villa on loan from Chelsea in January and has started four Premier League games for the club, registering a WhoScored rating of 5.74. This makes him the lowest rated outfield player who has started more than one match this season in the Premier League.
These Aston Villa fans called for Drinkwater to be benched.
