A section of Southampton fans have heaped praise on Shane Long following an interview with the club’s official website.
Long has emerged as a key player for Ralph Hasenhuttl in recent weeks and cemented his place in the starting XI.
He has ousted the likes of Michael Obafemi and Che Adams to start alongside Danny Ings up front for the Saints in the Premier League.
The Irish forward has repaid the faith shown in him by Ralph Hasenhuttl by producing two goals in his last five appearances for the club.
Long struck against Wolves in the Premier League and Tottenham in the FA Cup, whilst also picking up an assist in the 2-1 win over Leicester last month.
His current contract with Southampton is set to expire at the end of the season, but The Daily Echo claim that a new contract is in place ready for him to sign once the club hit 36 points in the Premier League.
