Southampton fell to defeat over the weekend as they lost 2-1 to Burnley at St. Mary’s on Saturday.
Ashley Westwood gave Burnley the lead in the opening minutes as his corner dropped straight into the goal. Danny Ings was in a great position to clear the ball for Southampton but moved out of the way, possibly expecting it to go wide for a goal kick.
Ings did then make amends for his error as he slammed in the equaliser for Southampton. The ball broke to him on the edge of the box and he lashed home a strike from range to find the bottom corner of Nick Pope’s net.
However, Burnley found their winner in the 60th minute. Matej Vydra came off the bench to collect the ball on the edge of the box before riding a challenge and firing a shot into the roof of the net.
Che Adams was brought on with five minutes to go in order to find an equaliser, and these Southampton fans were not happy with the substitution…
