Southend United manager, and former Tottenham and Portsmouth defender, Sol Campbell produced an incredible post-match interview over the weekend.
After watching his side lose 2-1 to Blackpool away from home in League One, he was asked a question about some of the players in his side, responding by saying that some of them were playing their “first games for Southampton”.

Of course, he meant to say Southend – the club he is the manager of – but instead said Southampton. He continued the interview, seemingly without even acknowledging his error.
Emotions run high after a game and it can be hard to think on the spot when speaking to someone after expending a lot of energy over the course of two hours, even if it is on the touchline. It was a slip of the tongue from Campbell, but bizarre nonetheless.
