Southampton enjoyed an unforgettable night of derby magic earlier in the season as they beat rivals Portsmouth 4-0 in the League Cup.
It was the first south coast derby in seven years and Southampton made sure they were the winners with an emphatic performance at Fratton Park.
Danny Ings scored twice, with Cedric Soares and Nathan Redmond compiling the misery on their League One counterparts.
To further add to Southampton’s dominance over Portsmouth, the Saints women’s team beat Pompey 2-0 on Wednesday in the WNL Cup quarter-finals – progressing through to the semi-finals of the competition.
Ella Pusey scored both goals for Southampton as they completed a men and women’s double over Portsmouth for the season.
These Southampton fans celebrated the 2-0 win for the women’s team…

With Southampton and Portsmouth still being two divisions apart in the men’s competitions, it might be down to the women’s team to continue the dominance over the next few years. That is unless Southampton are able to draw their rivals in the League Cup or FA Cup next season.
