Southampton have produced a number of players from the academy in recent years, with James Ward-Prowse, Yan Valery, Will Smallbone and Jake Vokins all having made first-team appearances this season.
One academy product who has seemingly fallen off the radar, however, is Sam McQueen. The left-back recently turned 25-years-old and is still a Southampton player, although he has not played a competitive match for the club since the 2017/18 campaign.
He is still under contract to the club until the summer of 2021, after signing a four-and-a-half-year extension in December 2016. McQueen joined Middlesbrough on loan last season, only to return to Southampton due to injury after five Championship games.
As of today, McQueen has been out injured for 464 days and Ralph Hasenhuttl has not given an update recently on when he is likely to make a return.
