Arsenal have officially confirmed the signing of Cedric Soares on loan from Southampton until the end of the season.

The right-back has been Southampton’s first-choice right-back this season, having started 16 Premier League matches. Southampton have already replaced the defender, though, by bringing in Kyle Walker-Peters on loan from Tottenham for the remainder of the campaign.
Cedric is out of contract at the end of the season and is poised to become a free agent upon the expiry of his Arsenal loan deal. This means that the Gunners could snap Cedric up for nothing if they are impressed with his performances over the next five months.

Southampton travel away to face Liverpool in the Premier League at Anfield on Saturday. Yan Valery and Kyle Walker-Peters will be competing for a place in the starting line-up as the club’s only right-backs at the club at the moment. Liverpool have not lost a match in the league to date.
