Leicester have reportedly made contact with Southampton over a potential deal for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
According to Ekstra Bladet, via Sport Witness, Leicester are showing great interest in Hojbjerg and have already been in talks with Southampton.
The report also claims that Tottenham are interested in the Denmark international, who has captained Southampton in the Premier League this season.
READ SOUTHAMPTON VERDICT
With just hours left until the end of the transfer window, Southampton should be looking to keep their best players. If they sold Hojbjerg, it would leave them with very little time to replace one of their key players heading into the second-half of the season.
Hojbjerg currently ranks fourth in the Southampton squad for his average WhoScored rating this season. He has averaged 6.84 per-game, with only Moussa Djenepo, James Ward-Prowse and Danny Ings ahead of him. This shows just how important Hojbjerg is to Southampton, as he is one of their top performing players.
Then you have to consider the intangibles. He is the Southampton captain, which suggests that he has a huge impact off and on the pitch in terms of leadership. Hojbjerg is Ralph Hasenhuttl’s main man, his captain, and it would be a massive blow to the squad to lose a top player as well as a key figure in the changing room. This is why Southampton need to keep him at the club.
