Southampton are reportedly open to the idea of selling right-back Cedric Soares before Friday’s transfer deadline.
According to The Daily Echo, Southampton feel as though they need to consider any offers for Cedric, with Arsenal interested, because he is set to become a free agent in the summer.
Cedric is out of contract at the end of the season and the next few days are Southampton’s last chance to recoup a transfer fee for the Portuguese international.

Kyle Walker-Peters, according to the Echo, is set to sign for the club on loan until the end of the season. This means that Southampton will have three right-backs available, including Cedric, for the second-half of the season. Even if Cedric were to leave, Yan Valery and Walker-Peters can compete for the place in the starting line-up, with Kevin Danso also able to fill in at times on the right.
This means that it would not be the end of the world if Cedric were to leave, as Southampton have been proactive in the transfer market and moved quickly to bring Walker-Peters in. With Cedric out of contract, Southampton cashing in on him this window could be smart business from the Saints.
If Walker-Peters comes in and nails down his spot in the side, it would be a waste for Cedric to set on the bench before leaving on a free transfer in the summer. Instead, they could get a fee for Cedric this week and make the most of his value.
