Sadio Mane ranks fifth overall in the Premier League for WhoScored ratings this season, topping Liverpool’s squad in the process. He has averaged a rating of 7.51 per-game, with only Ricardo Pereira, Riyad Mahrez, Adama Traore and Kevin De Bruyne ahead of him in the rankings. This illustrates just how important Mane is to Liverpool, as it suggests that he is their best performing player in the Premier League.
This means that losing him is a huge blow for the Reds. However, they have only failed to win one match in the Premier League this season, so the odds of Southampton being able to pick up a result are slim. Regardless, Liverpool losing Mane does shorten them slightly and give Southampton a glimmer of hope heading into an incredibly tough match-up.
