Southampton are reportedly closing in on the loan signing of Spurs right-back Kyle Walker-Peters this week.

According to Daily Echo journalist Dan Sheldon, Southampton are close to completing a deal to sign the defender on loan until the end of the season.

He also claims that the deal will not have a purchase option included. This means that Southampton will need to renegotiate with Tottenham at the end of the campaign if they wish to pin him down to a permanent contract.

The 22-year-old has struggled to get into the Tottenham team over Serge Aurier this season, and only made six Premier League appearances last term – managing three assists.

Southampton travel away to face Liverpool in the Premier League next weekend. If signed in time, it could be a chance for Walker-Peters to make his debut for the club, assuming all goes well.
