READ SOUTHAMPTON VERDICT
Cedric is out of contract at the end of the season and that is a situation that Southampton will need to make a decision on. Will they let him leave for free? His performances this season suggest that he deserves a new deal, with him currently holding the highest WhoScored rating for a fullback in Southampton’s squad this season.
This suggests that Southampton should be looking to tie him down to an extended contract. However, it is impossible to know whether the club can afford to, or if the player himself is willing to commit his future to St. Mary’s. It is a situation that could become clearer as we get closer to the summer, as he would become a free agent at the end of the season.
If I was Ralph Hasenhuttl and had the ability to sign him to a deal, I would do it. Given the stats provided above and his experience in the Premier League, he is a useful asset to the squad and deserves to stay.
