Southampton will be hoping to avoid an upset when they host Huddersfield Town in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side had an extremely productive Christmas period after picking up 10 points from their last four matches.
This includes impressive away wins at Aston Villa and Chelsea before a well-earned 1-0 victory over Spurs on New Year’s Day.
These results moved the side up to 12th in the Premier League, 28 league positions above Huddersfield who sit in 20th place in the Championship.
The Terriers have improved since they appointed Danny Cowley in September although they did suffer a poor 5-2 loss at home to Stoke on Wednesday.
Their last meeting came on the final day of last season when they drew 1-1 at St Mary’s in Huddersfield’s last Premier League match before relegation.
Saints exited the FA Cup to another Championship side at this stage last campaign when Derby County won on penalties in the third round replay at St Mary’s.
It isn’t yet clear how seriously the manager will take the FA Cup but there is likely to be numerous changes to the side regardless after a tough run of congested games.
