Southampton recorded another massive result over Christmas with a 1-0 home victory against Spurs.
Saints broke the deadlock after 17 minutes after Jack Stephens played a great ball up to Danny Ings who flicked the ball past Toby Alderweireld and expertly finished with his left foot.
Spurs had a couple of great chances to level in the first-half but Jan Vertonghen, Harry Kane and Dele Alli were all denied.
The hosts started the second-half brightly and were unlucky not to be awarded a penalty when Alderweireld appeared to handle the ball but VAR didn’t deem it to be a clear and obvious error.
Spurs had an equaliser ruled out after Harry Kane fired the ball into the back of the net from a free-kick but was offside in doing so.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side held on to make it four matches unbeaten over the Christmas period including three victories in that time.
Incredibly, these three points have moved the side up to 11th in the Premier League, six points clear of the relegation zone.
