Werder Bremen were interested in a move for the Danish international, who has lost his place at Southampton this season.

Vestergaard’s move to Southampton has been unsuccessful in the long run and it appears as though the club is ready to cash in on their mistake. He is currently struggling to get any minutes in the Premier League, with Jan Bednarek and Jack Stephens currently impressing at the back.
A January exit for the centre-back does appear on the cards, given the link with Bremen, so it will be interesting to see if any other clubs become keen on him over the next four weeks. Selling Vestergaard would also give Southampton extra funds to dip into the transfer market themselves. The Saints are just above the relegation zone and strengthening their squad could ensure that they are able to avoid dropping down to the second tier.
