Two promotions, two cup finals, relegation battles, eight permanent managers, surviving a 10-point deduction and unearthing numerous gems; it’s fair to say that the past decade has been far from boring for Saints.
As we approach the close of another year and another decade, it’s the perfect time for reflection on what has been a memorable 10 years for Southampton fans.
The 2010s has seen some fantastic moments for Saints – from ending their seven-year exile from the Premier League to Sadio Mane’s record breaking hat-trick and many more in between.
We have also been treated to seeing so many talented footballers wear a Saints shirt as demonstrated by the latest Ballon d’Or results which consisted of three ex-Saints stars in the top 20.
It’s reasons like that which make this piece slightly difficult to write as we’ve put together our team of the decade.
There were some tough decisions to make but we’ve given it our best shot; so without further ado here’s our Southampton team of the decade.
