Nottingham Forest are in ‘pole position’ to sign Che Adams from Southampton if he is loaned out in January, according to Football Insider.
Leeds United are believed to have joined the race for the striker’s signature, but Sabri Lamouchi’s side have been listed as the leading contenders ahead of the upcoming transfer window.
Adams has not started a game for Southampton since September, with the likes of Danny Ings, Shane Long and Michael Obafemi all preferred.
Whether or not the club are willing to loan him out just months after he was signed for £15 million, though, remains unclear.

Adams is in desperate need of games, and more particularly, a goal. It doesn’t seem like he is a favoured option for Ralph Hasenhuttl, but loaning him out would be a big gamble.
The 23-year-old hasn’t been at all bad since arriving in the summer, but his failure to open his account in a Saints shirt has raised concerns.
However, he is a young player who has only been in the top flight for a short time. Unless he is handed adequate opportunities to adapt, it is hard to see how he will ever have the chance to step up.
