Southampton are likely to face stiff competition in their pursuit of Joakim Maehle.
According to claims from Sky Sports, Saints want to sign the Danish full-back in January, while Crystal Palace have also been keeping tabs throughout the season.
However, there appears to be interest from across Europe, and it seems Maehle may have the chance to move to a prestigious club in the New Year.
Italian news outlet Tuttomercatoweb reports that Napoli have long admired the player, who came up against them in this season’s Champions League group stages.

Maehle, 22, has performed well for Genk over the past 18 months, and the race for his signature ahead of the January transfer window is clearly stepping up.

It doesn’t really come as a surprise to see big clubs like Napoli keeping a close eye on Maehle’s progress.
He is a hugely promising player and fits the prerequisite of a modern-day full-back; he is quick, intelligent and excellent with the ball at his feet.
Maehle would have guaranteed game time at Southampton, but the allure of a move to Napoli is, of course, far more appealing.
Saints will be hoping that the pull of the Premier League can convince the full-back to leave Genk next month.
