Saints keen on fresh Maehle swoop
Southampton are reportedly interested in making a fresh move for Joakim Maehle.
Having seen their efforts to sign the Denmark international fall through last January, Saints are understood by Sky Sports to be readying another pursuit in the New Year.
Maehle has enjoyed an impressive season with Genk so far and was particularly excellent for his country’s Under-21 side at the European Championships in the summer.
Southampton could be keen to recruit a new right-back next month, with Cedric Soares set to leave on a free transfer at the end of the campaign.
They will face competition from elsewhere in the race for Maehle’s signature, however, with Crystal Palace also reportedly scouting him.

Maehle would be a very good signing. He is fast, powerful and versatile, and would fit into Ralph Hasenhuttl’s style of play seamlessly.
The young full-back has shown that he is capable of influencing matches from both the right-hand side and the left, and his attacking prowess has earned him plenty of plaudits.
Replacing Cedric in January is a must for Southampton, and there will be few players better suited to Hasenhuttl’s approach than Maehle.
