Monaco join Saints in the race for Todibo
AS Monaco have reportedly joined Southampton the race to sign Jean-Clair Todibo from Barcelona.
Saints’ interest in signing the Frenchman was initially revealed by ESPN in Spain, and Mundo Deportivo have since backed up these claims while also indicating that a move to Ligue 1 may be a possibility.
Watford, AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen are all also touted as potential destinations for Todibo, who is among Barcelona’s most promising young players.
The La Liga giants were believed to have been open to offloading the defender in January, but following his excellent display against Inter Milan in the Champions League, his future is uncertain.

Todibo is a really promising player, and despite only being 19-years-old, he would improve a lot of good teams in world football.
Saints could definitely benefit from adding to their defensive options in January, but whether or not they’d be able to persuade the youngster to arrive at St Mary’s, particularly in the midst of a difficult time for the club, hardly seems likely.
Either way, it would be an encouraging sign if Southampton were to move for Todibo; he is at the level of quality required if the team are to pull away from the threat of relegation zone.
