Southampton recorded another massive 2-1 victory at St Mary’s, this one coming against Norwich City on Wednesday evening.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side recorded back-to-back wins for the first time since March after two crucial results against other sides in the relegation zone.
Saints took the lead after 22 minutes when a James Ward-Prowse free-kick was flicked into the back of the net by Danny Ings.
The hosts doubled their advantage just before half-time courtesy of another Ward-Prowse delivery that was headed by Shane Long and converted by Ryan Bertrand just in front of goal.
Norwich halved the deficit midway through the second-half after Teemu Pukki was put through on goal and finished past Alex McCarthy.
Despite being put under pressure from the Canaries late on, Saints held on to give their season some much needed life.
These three points move the side onto 15 points from their opening 15 games which puts them right back in the mix.
