Southampton are one of a number of Premier League sides interested in a deal to sign Mohammed Salisu from Real Valladolid in the January transfer window.
According to Diario de Valladolid, Southampton, Everton, Manchester United and Norwich are among the clubs keen on the centre-back.
The report claims that he has a release clause of €12m, with Valladolid said to be trying to tie him down to a revised contract.
READ SOUTHAMPTON VERDICT

There is no denying that Southampton need to strengthen their defence in the January window. The Saints have conceded 31 Premier League goals already this season, the most in the entire division. Ralph Hasenhuttl is in need of reinforcements to bolster his squad and Salisu is a centre-back – although relatively untested and inexperienced.
Salisu is playing in his first La Liga season at the age of 20, which makes him more of a prospect for the future than someone who could come in and turn Southampton’s fortunes around immediately. Southampton lack experience and leadership at the back, and there is nothing to suggest – as good as he may be – that Salisu would bring those qualities to St. Mary’s. However, this could just be Southampton planning for the future, rather than looking to improve their starting XI straight away.
