Arsenal have been dealt a blow ahead of their clash with Southampton as Dani Ceballos has been ruled out with a hamstring injury.

Ceballos, who was originally expected to return, will miss out once again – according to injury analyst Ben Dinnery.

The Spanish midfielder is currently on loan to Arsenal from Real Madrid and has made 10 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners.

This news will come as a welcome boost to Southampton, as it is one less star they have to deal with in Arsenal’s attack. Ceballos is yet to score his first Arsenal goal, but has contributed with assists and is impressive in possession with his dribbling ability and passing range.

He has the ability to unlock defences and create space in the final third, whilst also being able to dictate the tempo of games by driving forward and adding attacking thrust to Arsenal’s attacks. Instead, the likes of Guendouzi and Willock could line up against the Saints – who are more industrious in their work, as well as being younger and less experienced.
