The 20-year-old is clearly playing well in League One if Championship sides are starting to take notice of him, which is a good sign for his development in his first few months out on loan. If Southampton can get him a Championship loan for the second half of the season, it will speed up his progress and be a great chance to see if he can compete at that level.

With Southampton facing a potential relegation to the second tier, it could also be an opportunity to see if he could be a first-team player for the Saints if they are relegated from the Premier League. It is no secret that Southampton have been poor at the back this season and his impressive performances at centre-back suggest that he could be one for the future at St. Mary’s.
