Southampton slumped to yet another defeat on Saturday as they lost 2-1 to Everton at St. Mary’s.

Tom Davies and Richarlison scored for Everton, with Danny Ings scoring an equaliser early in the second-half for the Saints before Richarlison’s winner.

READ SOUTHAMPTON VERDICT

As much as some fans are clearly frustrated with Southampton’s current position, changing the manager is not always the solution. You only need to look at the club’s recent history to prove that it is not the case, with the likes of Mauricio Pellegrino, Claude Puel and Mark Hughes all failing to impress at St. Mary’s before Hasenhuttl’s arrival.

There is no guarantee that anyone who comes in can do a better job, considering that the current set of players have been far from convincing for several managers over the past two or three seasons. Hasenhuttl is far from perfect, playing players out of position and making strange substitutions, but there is nothing to suggest that another manager – who Southampton could realistically attract – could come in and do a better job.

Should Hasenhuttl be sacked?
